The 1982-83 O-Pee-Chee Dating Game (Episode 20)

Welcome back to The 1982-83 O-Pee-Chee Dating Game, where we'll randomly select three eligible bachelors from the set and you, the reader, will choose which one wins that date with a special lady. How do we know they're bachelors? Why, it says so right on the back of their hockey cards, that's how!

Previous episodes are available here.

The big winner of episode 19 was 1980 Olympic gold medalist Mike Ramsey. (U-S-A! U-S-A! U-S-A!)

Now, let's start the 20th round and introduce the bachelors chosen by the randomizer! [APPLAUSE]

Bachelor number 1: Goalie from the Edmonton Oilers, Grant Fuhr
Bachelor number 2:
Goalie from the Toronto Maple Leafs, Vincent Tremblay
Bachelor number 3: Center
from the New Jersey Devils, Steve Tambellini

We haven't had many goalies on the program so far, but now we've got two in the same episode. It's a goalie battle!

Let's find out more about all three gents from the back of their cards.

Well, two bachelors were so bashful that they just couldn't share any hobbies. Grant Fuhr responded by revving his engine. Will that affect the outcome this week? Time for you to decide!

Who's going out on a date with our nice young lady?

Bachelor number 1: Speed racer Grant Fuhr.

Bachelor number 2: Vincent Tremblay, Quebec guy through and through.

Bachelor number 3: Nearly a 30-goal man last season, Steve Tambellini.

  1. Grant Fuhr has a more interesting write-up, and he was awesome. Easy vote for him!

    1. He was awesome indeed, and during the 1982-83 season had some incredible forwards and defensemen in front of him. One vote for Mr. Fuhr. Thanks Brett!

    1. Score another vote for Grant Fuhr. Might not be much of a goalie battle this week after all. Thanks for playing, Elliptical Man!

  3. This gal hasn't had a date in some time now. Not wanting to appear at all desperate by quickly eliminating bachelors two and three, I'll take a moment to consider...eh never mind. I'm running out of time. Gimme number one, and hurry it up will ya? I have to be back at the home by 9pm.

    1. Julie! Glad to have you back. We've got another vote for Grant Fuhr. Just keep in mind that Vincent and Steve say to watch out for that Fuhr guy and his fast cars. It's possible that they're just sore because he has received all three votes so far, but it's also possible that they actually know something about the guy.

  4. Easy vote for me as Fuhr was one of my faves when I was growing up

  5. This is a tough one. Fuhr is definitely the most interesting (and a HOFer) but Tambellini was the first Devils player pictured on cardboard.

I'll throw in a token vote for Tambi, since it's clear that Fuhr is riding away a winner here.

    1. Attaboy, Chris! Tambellini is on the board. Interesting piece of history there, too.
